Ongoing Projects

Our Ongoing Projects

Flowers  For Friends

Club members create floral arrangements at least twice a year for residents of Colonial Gardens, the Senior Center and other senior Southborough residents who live at home.

Southborough Public Library Flowers

Club members provide bi-weekly floral arrangements to greet visitors in the

library's front room from September to June.

Southborough Public Library Garden

In 2010 the Southborough Gardeners developed a site plan for a welcoming, contemplative garden on the west side of the Southborough Public Library.  The Club raises funds and provides volunteers to maintain the garden.

Triangle Raised Bed Planter

In 2013 the Gardeners designed, funded and planted a new raised bed on the traffic Island at the intersection of Route 85 and Framingham Road.  Featuring drought tolerant perennials, the garden is planted for year-round color, low maintenance and visual interest.  The garden is updated and maintained by Club members with help from the Southborough Department of Public Works.

Southborough Public Library Planters

In 2016 two urn planters were installed flanking the front entrance doors of the library.  Club members create displays that are changed with the seasons in keeping with our mission of beautifying civic landscapes.

Community Planters

In 2021 the Southborough Economic Development Commission received a grant so that three community planters could be installed along Main Street.  The planters are updated and maintained by Club members year-round so that our community can enjoy fresh colorful floral decorations all year long.

Town House Planter

Southborough Gardeners members plant and maintain the planter at the back entrance to the Town House.  This display in another element of our mission to beautify our civic lands, even in small ways.

Southborough Heritage Day

The Southborough Gardeners’ booth provides information to the public regarding the Club’s mission, activities and contributions to Southborough.  The sale of seasonal items raises funds for Town Beautification projects.

November Guest Day

A Guest Speaker on festive holiday topics is followed by a lovely tea.  Floral arrangements created by the guest speaker will be raffled off.  This event is open to the public for a nominal fee and is a gift to the town in furtherance of the Club’s educational mission.

Winter Greens Workshop

Member-run workshop are held at the St. Mark's Church's Stevens Hall for Club members and other participants, to try their hands at creating holiday arrangements.

Wreath Sale

Members design several styles of festive holiday wreaths, take orders and get together to assemble fresh wreaths for the friends and community members who ordered them.  Proceeds from the wreath sale support Town Beautification projects.

Community Wreath Hanging

In early December, Club members hang fresh wreaths on town buildings and businesses to decorate the town for the winter holidays.

Spring Plant Sale

Member-grown as well as commercially grown plants  are sold to the public to raise money for the Club’s civic projects and scholarship fund.

Scholarship Fund

A scholarship is given each year to a deserving Southborough student(s) planning to major or majoring in Horticultural or Environmental studies.  Please click the link to download a PDF copy of our Scholarship Application.
